Dubai’s Montaji anti-counterfeit app crowned winner of 2017 Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart Government Award Montaji

An app created by Dubai Municipality to enable consumers to verify the information and safety of the consumer products they purchase has been announced as the winner of the 2017 Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart Government Award, according to a report published by the Khaleej Times.

Users can simply scan the barcode of any cosmetics, perfumes, supplements or laundry care products via the Montaji app to check whether the product is registered and complaint with the Dubai Municipality regulations.

The app, which was created as part of the ongoing battle to tackle a slew of counterfeit products flooding the market, was one of eight finalists chosen from the 117 government initiatives that participated in the 2017 awards.
