Avon presses on with its rejuvenation mission; appoints Chief Beauty & Brand Officer

Avon has announced the appointment of James Thompson as Chief Beauty & Brand Officer, effective immediately.

Thompson joins Avon from Diageo, where he has worked for the past 24 years, most recently in the role of Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer for Diageo North America. In this new role, he is charged with creating more agile category teams, structured to work more closely with Avon’s markets as well as spearheading the rejuvenation of the direct sales giant’s brand.  

“Chief Beauty & Brand Officer is a strategically vital role at Avon, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have an executive of James’ caliber join us,” said Jonathan Myers, Chief Operating Officer. “James has a well established track record of turning around large and small brands throughout the world at both luxury and mainstream price points. We are confident that James’ breadth of experience, in-depth digital capabilities, and new product marketing and innovation expertise will further deepen Avon’s connection with its consumers and representatives.”

In addition to Thompson’s appointment, Avon announced that Alex Long will transition from GVP, Global Brand Marketing to GVP, Global Commercial Marketing to drive marketing execution, brochure excellence and revenue growth management.
