Beauty moguls dominate Forbes richest self-made women

Several beauty entrepreneurs made it onto Forbes’ shortlist of America’s Richest Self-Made Women this year. So many, in fact, that Forbes has expanded its list to 80 women, a third more than a year ago with a record 25 billionaires sitting at the top of the ranking.

Kathy Fields and Katie Rodan were listed in equal 14th  place thanks to the US$1.5 billion fortune a-piece they’ve amassed through their skin care offer, Rodan + Fields while Anastasia Soare, the woman behind Anastasia Beverly Hills, was named in 21st position with US$1.2 billion, closely followed by fellow make-up brand owner Kylie Jenner in 23rd with a cool US$1 billion.

Fellow social media star Huda Kattan came 36th with a fortune of US$610 million thanks to her cosmetics brand Huda Beauty, tailed by singer Rihanna of Fenty Beauty fame in 37th with US$600 million. IT Cosmetics CEO Jamie Kern Lima is ranked 47th with US$440 million while Kylie’s sister, Kim Kardashian West appears in 57th spot on the list with a US$370 million balance thanks in part to her cosmetics business, KKW Beauty.

Karissa Bodnar, Founder of vegan beauty brand Thrive Causemetics, made 74th spot while NYX Founder Toni Ko was named at 75th.
