Beiersdorf announces management restructure

Personal care giant Beiersdorf has announced a management reshuffle, with a series of changes at the top effective January 2019 when new CEO Stefan De Loecker commences his role.

As part of the restructure, Ralph Gusko will end his responsibility of brands, R&D, by mutual consent, however, will continue to oversee Asia Pacific region until year end 2019.

Meanwhile Asim Naseer, formerly with Procter & Gamble, will take on the role of Chief Marketing Officer for Consumer Brands of the Executive Board, while Ramon A. Mirt has been given the role of Executive Board of Beiersdorf AG commencing March 18, 2019.

Prof. Reinhard Pöllath, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, said, “Ralph Gusko has stood out both as a pillar and a driver of worldwide Beiersdorf business throughout his long and consistently successful career. We thank him very much for all his contributions to our company and our brands.
“We welcome Asim Naseer and Ramon A. Mirt and their rich expertise. They will help Beiersdorf further deepen its commitment to international diversity and being closest to markets and consumers. The Supervisory Board fully supports the initiative to include R&D and Supply Chain into the top leadership team of the Consumer Business Segment.”

In further news, management of the group’s Consumer Business Segment will be overseen by a new Group Executive Board from 2019. Part of the committee will comprise Global Head of Research & Development, Dr. May Shana’a as well as Global Head of Supply Chain, Harald Emberger.

    These management changes have been in the pipeline for some time.
    It is interesting that Beiersdorf is recruiting from Procter & Gamble for one of the new team.
    The brand, marketing and global business experience of this type of hire should stand the
    company in good stead at it embarks on its path to further growth.
