Bogota Mayor tempts foreign investors; updates App to help cosmetics manufacturers secure a foothold in the city

Colombian capital Bogota is launching a new version of its mobile device application (App) to help foreign cosmetics manufacturers looking to establish a foothold in the city. The App was developed by agency Invest in Bogota with the support of the Mayor’s Office.

The Invest in Bogota App, which is available in both Spanish and English, provides users with the latest information on business opportunities in the city, including comparative figures with respect to other Latin American cities, points of interest for foreign investors and an events schedule. Potential investors can also request tailor-made information, download information sheets and contact a specialist investment officer.

“The Colombian capital is now an attractive place for foreign investment since it boasts one of the most dynamic markets in the region and the greatest growth potential on the continent. It offers competitive advantages for business, exceeding those of its Latin American peers due to its economic strength, highly qualified human talent, favorable business environment, privileged geographical location, access to markets, and quality of life,” said Juan Gabriel Pérez, Executive Director of Invest in Bogota.

Since its launch in 2006, Invest in Bogota has supported 185 foreign companies, creating some 18,620 jobs in the city and generating investment in the region of US$1.3 million. In 2014 alone, 38 new projects were established in the city, with the pharmaceutical and cosmetics sector accounting for 8 percent of these.
