Consumers warned to steer clear as asbestos found AGAIN in Claire’s Stores make-up

The US Food and Drug Administration has warned consumers to avoid using make-up purchased from Claire’s Stores and Beauty Plus Global after tests revealed asbestos to be present in the retailers’ own-brand cosmetics kits, according to a report published by CBS news.

A batch of Beauty Plus Global’s Contour Effects Palette 2 and a lot of Claire’s JoJo Siwa Makeup Set have been voluntarily recalled by the retailers.

This is the second time this year alone that Claire’s stands accused of marketing cosmetics laced with the carcinogen to children, following a series of scandals in 2018 that the retailer vehemently denied. In a statement emailed to CBS News the company reiterated that it ‘stands behind the safety of this item and all other Claire’s cosmetic items, as such trace amounts are considered acceptable under European and Canadian cosmetic safety regulations’.
