Could California be set to greenlight CBD in food and beauty products?

California could soon reverse its ban on the addition of CBD to food, drinks and cosmetics, according to a report published by JD Supra.

Assembly Bill 228 proposes to lift any restrictions on industrial hemp or cannabinoids – in direct opposition to an FDA ruling that hemp-derived CBD cannot be used as a food.

The bill would clarify and sanction a path to market for CBD-based products, which are already widely available across the state. However, the bill does not state that hemp-derived CBD products are safe to consumer or contain guidance on maximum dosage.
