FDA India given green light to fine companies in breach of conditions

The FDA India has been given the green light to fine companies such as chemists that manufacture, sell or distribute cosmetics in the case of breach of conditions, according to a report by The Times of India.

Indeed, the legislative assembly this week passed a bill that allows licensing authorities such as the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) increased responsibility to not only cancel or suspend licences, but also to deliver fines to companies that are in the business of drugs, cosmetics, homoeopathic, ayurvedic, siddha or Unani medicine, and are in breach of conditions.

There are currently 5000 cases relating to fines, which have been pending with the appeal authorities and the Bombay high court for more than five years.
