Garnier was originally known as Laboratoires Garnier when it was established in 1904 by French pharmacist Alfred Amour Garnier. The company was aquired by L’Oreal in 1977 and is now the second largest brand in the L’Oreal group. Garnier introduced home hair-colour products to the mass market in the 1960s with Belle Color, Garnier Nutrisse and Colour Naturals. Garnier skin care and hair care products are currently sold in more than 120 countries. In 2011, Garnier partnered with US manufacturer TerraCycle to promote upcycling of product containers and the introduction of biodegradable packaging.
