Henkel looks to booming vegan market to boost ailing beauty business

Henkel has this week announced new vegan formulas as it looks to capitalize on the growing consumer desire for natural ingredients, according to a report by Reuters.

As part of its bid to give its ailing beauty business a boost, the company has launched a premium professional vegan range for hair salons called Authentic Beauty Concept, reformulated its European shampoo brand Scauma as vegan, and will be rolling out its Nature Box range, made from cold-pressed oil, to further markets. The company is also launching a new free-from hair dye range named OnlyLove.

Talking at a news conference, Chief Executive Hans van Bylen stated that while the certified vegan products would be targeting a niche audience, he believes there is strong potential and that it will help the company reformulate all its products in the future.

According to the company, the Schauma vegan formula will not contain silicones or parabens, while the Authentic Beauty Concept will contain ‘pure’ ingredients.
