La Bella Extreme Sport Styling Gel recalled due to bacteria contamination

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ordered a recall of more than 9,500 containers of La Bella Extreme Sport Styling Gel following reports it is contaminated with bacteria.

Manufactured by Kapra Cosmetics, The Village Company recalled the containers after four lots failed micro testing due to bacterial contamination.

Distributed to stores such as Target from 5th March, 2019, The Village Company was said to be alerted to the possible contamination in mid-May and immediately ceased shipments of the product.

The products are said to be contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia and a group of related strains. While said to be relatively safe for healthy consumers, the bacteria could pose a threat to those with weakened immune systems, cystic fibrosis and chronic lung disease.

Lot numbers recalled include 9057B, 19072C, 19072E, 19072G. There are no reported cases of harm caused by the products.
