Lux appoints first non-gender influencer as brand ambassador

Soap brand Lux South Africa has announced the appointment of its first non-gender influencer Kgositsile Modisane as its latest brand ambassador.

The employment of Modisane is an historic move for the Unilever-owned brand, with the stylist, content creator and commentator being the first non-gender signing for the company.

Sphelele Mjadu, Unilever beauty and personal care spokesperson, noted that Modisane makes up a strong group of content creators the brand has worked with over the past three years.

She said, “This includes fashion and beauty personas such as Nadia Jaftha, Tshego Manche, Aqeelah Harron and Thuli Mola. As a result, our brand partners create content that is unique to their audiences.
“It is for this very reason that the brand continued to evolve and change the way we collaborate with our brand partners, [and] this is no different to the relationship we have established with Kgosi.”

Transgender yet identifying as non-gender, Houghton-born Modisane said, “Until you have the actual contract you can’t really speak. But also, it was so big for me at a time when I had lost my mom and grandmother, and those two women were literally my pillars.”
