Maybelline caters to diverse audience with lipstick test on 50 different skin tones

Maybelline has announced it has tested its new Color Sensational Made for All lipsticks on 50 different skin tones in order to ensure the range is suitable for all women and embrace the ongoing movement for diversity.

Having been obsessively tested on the different skin tones, the seven shades – reds, neutrals and pinks – are said to be the ‘perfect mixture of undertones’.

Jon Saenz, VP of global Maybelline Marketing, Lip, told elle.com, “It’s all about the right mixture of pigment. For example, the most universally flattering red must have the perfect balance of yellow and blue. Using our specialist team of color chemists we know the specific mix of pigments needed for each shade to work on every skin-tone.”

Debuted at New York Fashion Week, the lipsticks will be available to buy from January 2019.
