Walgreens Boots Alliance’ Global Communications Chief Yves Romestan is thought to have retired from his role at the company in a bid to pursue personal interests and spend more time with his family, according to a report by PR Weekly.

According to the report Romestan stepped down last month, with Laura Vergani, previously Vice President International Communications, taking on many of his responsibilities. Vergani has since been promoted to Vice President, International and Divisional Communications.

Romestan had been with the company since 2003, taking on his role of Senior Vice President, Communications and International Affairs following the 2015 merger of Alliance Boots and Walgreens.

Vergani will now report to Chuck Greener senior Vice President, Global Communications and Corporate Affairs, and, alongside previous roles, will now manage communications for Walgreens; Boots UK and Ireland; as well as global brands communications; pharmaceutical wholesale comms; and its communications for Retail Pharmacy International operations outside the UK and Ireland
