Price of US cosmetics to rocket as European Union retaliatory tariffs ushered in

Shoppers across Europe will soon see their favourite US brands become more expensive as The European Union’s retaliatory tariffs came into force on Friday, according to a report published by Sky News.

Ushered in in response to Trump’s duty on steel and aluminium imports, the tariffs target American consumer goods worth US$3.3 billion and cover a wide range of products from Levi jeans to US eye make-up and lipstick.

“Our response must be clear but measured. We will do what we have to do to rebalance and safeguard,” said European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker.

The EU imported US cosmetics worth more than €280 million in 2017.

Um, what about REACh? Is it not a hidden tariff? So they are retaliating for us retaliating? Oh my, where does it end?

No, REACH is not a hidden tariff because it applies to EU companies an imports in the same way.
