The global initiative, backed by non-profit The Climate Group and CDP, brings together major global firms committed to 100 percent renewable power.
“By championing the compelling case for business action, we have reached 100 members three years earlier than expected,” said Helen Clarkson, CEO of the Climate Group. “Changes in the market such as the falling costs of renewables have also working in our favor.”
AkzoNobel is aiming to become carbon neutral and use 100 percent renewable energy by 2050, while Burberry is aiming for 100 percent electricity by 2022.
“We’re convinced that embracing renewable energy is an excellent way to create both short- and long-term value that will enable a true business transition,” said AkzoNobel Corporate Director of Sustainability, Andre Veneman.
