Ulta resale scandal continues as senior management under investigation

Some of Ulta’s senior managers are under investigation for pressuring retail staff to reduce return rates, according to a press release issued by the law firm conducting the investigations on behalf of shareholders.

The Shuman Law Firm is asking shareholders for any information they may have relating to the accusations made by staff against management when the story broke that the retailer routinely sold used products as new in February last year.

“Higher level managers pressured the stores to keep the dollar amount of damaged or returned goods down,” an employee told CBS News at the time. A class-action lawsuit against the company was subsequently launched, accusing the company of operating a wide-ranging policy of reselling returned goods.
