Unilever CEO Paul Polman to step down from role

Unilever chief Paul Polman will step down from his role as CEO next month and is set to be replaced by company insider Alan Jope.

The resignation comes just a few months after a botched attempt to move the company’s headquarters from London to Rotterdam following a protest from shareholders.

Polman has steered Unilever from the top for almost a decade, with Jope being seen as a natural successor.

Jope said, “Our global footprint includes strong positions in many important markets for the future and our focus will remain on serving our consumers, and our other multiple stakeholders, to deliver long‐term growth and value creation.”
