The Founder of ethical beauty brand Lush Cosmetics, Mark Constantine has criticised the UK government’s shambolic handling of the Brexit process, according to a report published by The Times.
“Brexit is the most impactful thing on our business because of the sheer incompetence of the government,” Constantine told The Times. “You can’t be the party of business and be anti-immigration. I believe we are heading into a recession and a lot of that has been caused by the government.”
Lush reported a loss of £4 million for fiscal 2018, compared to a £22.7 million profit in 2017 with like-for-like UK sales falling 2 percent since June. Constantine estimates that moving to WTO tariffs would cost the company £2.6 million a year.
